DEI Statement
At A Wandering Fire, we believe all people are created equal.
We are dedicated to creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive experiences for our team, clients, and partners. We support those who are curious about other people’s experiences and who celebrate the beautiful nuances of the human condition. We believe in the power of collaboration, transparency, and authenticity, and we actively cultivate a community that embraces individuals from all backgrounds.
We Love All Love Stories
We are dedicated to celebrating your unique narrative because we love all love stories. We believe that every person is innately valuable and that every union is worth celebrating. Whether we are crafting a menu for a wedding or a community gathering, our kitchen is warm and open to all. We actively welcome and support couples and families of every orientation, background, and identity.
Empowering a Multi-Generational Team
True inclusion begins within our own team. We are proud to foster a workplace that spans generations, employing staff ranging from high-school students to grandparents. Led by founders Maaren Spears and Sean Kinney, we prioritize ethical leadership over maximum profit. We intentionally limit our own compensation to ensure we can pay our staff 40% more than the Wisconsin regional average. This commitment creates a culture where people stay, grow, and thrive.
Ethical Community & Value Alignment
True leadership is demonstrated through responsibility and accountability. We practice this through our commitment to ethical pricing—eliminating hidden “wedding taxes”—and by sourcing ingredients directly from our neighbors. However, creating a safe, inclusive environment requires boundaries. To protect the dignity and safety of our staff and community, we reserve the right to decline service to groups and individuals that do not share our values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
